Fairport Shines At NY State Championships – Records Fall Aplenty: 1 Section V Record, 3 School Records And A Personal Record


Saturday March 4, 2017 – Calling this day “great” for the Fairport athletes that competed at the NY State Indoor Track Championships would not be doing their efforts enough justice. All six of the athletes that competed set some sort of record.

  • Junior Ben Bulkeley set a School and Section V record of 2:26.78 in the 1000m, winning the race in the final meters. He also ran a State Meet record.
  • The boys 4x800m, comprised of Senior Nate Markle (1:58.87), Junior Sam Schraver (2:02.42), Sophomore Sean Henretta (2:01.65) and Junior Ben Bulkeley (1:55.07) ran a School Record time of 7:57.99, bettering their old record by more than 3 seconds and winning the state title.
  • Junior Sinead Sargeant finished 2nd in her heat of the 1000m, 10th overall, with a School Record time of 2:58.57.
  • Junior Majd Rouhana finished 5th in his heat, 16th overall, in the 3200m in a Personal Record time of 9:32.54.
